Coyote Lake

Bailey County, Texas

Coyote Lake, originally named Agua Negra, is one of the largest salt lakes on the Llano Estacado. Ranald Mackenzie camped here in the 1870s on his foray across the plains. Another plate in this series shows the water coloration, a potential indication of how its original name was derived.
