[Formal portrait of Joseph Carroll and Sarah Edna Allison with Ned and Mary Melvin Hogan]

This is a formal portrait of Joseph Carroll Allison and his wife Sarah. They are joined by friend Ned Hogan and his wife Mary Melvin Pattonn Hogan. The photographs from this set are misidentified on the versos. They were sent to Harold Allison represented as photos of his father, Oscar, but it was determined this was not the case. They were then reidentified as Oscar's brother William Irvin Allison, but that was also found to be incorrect. After searching newspapers associated with Joseph Carroll's time in Dickens County as a teacher, Ned Hogan was identified as a friend he traveled with. His findagrave.com entry displays a picture of him that matches the likeness in these photographs. Despite Ned's appearance as an Allison, he is not, which provided quite the journey in identifying this photograph!
